"First be best, then be first." Grant Tinker RIP
I learned this from my first girl crush, Beate Parra. When I was in a state of nothing, she was the best thing that ever happened to me at that time, and then she has been the first person outside of my grandmother whose diaper I didn't have to change that ever loved me unconditionally. While some might never know the impact they have on ones lives, I think a reminder of the love of another good person is important. That is why I'm the best. Because she believed in me. Finding someone who believes in you, and never expects anything in return, yeah, that's called love. She was the best at that and still is with me.
Sometimes I'll get an email
A few years ago I started getting emails from people telling me that I loved on them without even knowing it. People just reached out to tell me what they were up to and what their lives had led them to do because of a conversation they had with me. Today I had lunch with a mentor and friend and when we were talking about personal mantras she said impact as the very first one. I was down with that. What we do with these lives that God has given us, that's the most important thing. Those emails from people I might have done just a little something to inspire to do good are changing things.
So, here it is:
My best friend was the first person in my life that encouraged me to live out my life's mission. And because of her, I am more fulfilled than I have ever been, and more importantly, lives have changed. Never hold back from telling people how much you believe in their abilities. That made a mark on my life, and ultimately many others.. Her belief in humanity, the ultimate philanthropy, changed my life.
